Whispering Pines Writer's Retreat 2011

Where to start? A writer's retreat is a writers dream. To dream big. I come home to my life of boys and dogs and dishes-and I say wait a minute. Writing time. As Laurie Halse Anderson once said, "give yourself permission to write. It balances your soul and the universe." I keep that quote at my desk. Because she's right. We need to give ourselves the permission and the TIME. Our characters are worth it. Our stories that we so deeply believe in are worth it. So go ahead, go over your notes while rolling borritos for dinner, review your lastest revision while others watch (you know you will too) the UCONN basketball game. But most important-carve out that time for yourself. You'll hold up your right hand, and pat yourself on the back when you do.;<)
